The Tao't Batu (Cave Dweller) tribe is a subgroup of the Palawano tribe, found in the Southern tip of Palawan, Philippines. They are so called because they are known to live in mountain caves
during times when the weather is bad or when someone is sick and needs to be isolated. Otherwise, they live in very simple houses which they built in close proximity to their farms and which they
can easily abandon, whenever they need to move. To reach their community, one has to walk about 5 to 6 hours up the mountain trail from our lowland operating location. Other communities can be
reach in 2 to 3 hours hike.
This people group are mostly animist while some are nominal muslim animist. They live very simply and requires very little to survive. Very few have gone to school and only recently some have
gone as far as High Schooling. Their main challenge in life in to have more food supply and how to fight malaria and other endemic diseases.
YWAM has worked in the area for almost 15 years. The Tribal Operating location is in the village of Ransang, 7 hours by van from the capital city, Puerto Princesa.
